Virtual Meetings
2021 Year end meetings - Virtual

2020 - 2021
2020
The 30th Super Bowl is complete. Chiefs 31  49ers 20. FFL89 SBXXX champion is, McGibblets who scored a new record 505 points. Second is Texan, 479 pts.and third, Lynx with 474 pts. The year end meeting will be February 16th @ 11am at the Village Pub. Along with McGibblets, 4 other teams scored a SB high to be in the top 20 scoring list. Texan 479 (4), Lynx 474 (5), Warthogs 424 (12) and I'm Not Howie 400 (17). Year end meeting is over. Four owners were present, George, Mark, Tony and Rick. Meeting was held at the Village Pub, North Riverside. New tules for 2020 season are: 1 point for every PR and KR 20 yards from 25 yards per point. New rule about unpaid league fees, owner will be blocked from lineups, add/drops and trades until paid or made arrangements for payment. A date change for the rookie draft, moving it 1 week earlier (July 26th). Super Bowl - No longer will lineups carry over as the regular season, with players still in the playoffs. Teams must put a lineup in or be marked as "No lineup submitted". 8 of 14 votes for the rule changes and 10 of 14 for the FFL89 HOF were cast. Need to find a way to improve the number of votes submitted, somehow. March 1st begins the 2020 season, then Combine and the NFL rookie draft. At the year end meeting (2-16), George, presented a rule for keepers. Current rules: 1. Each owner can keep up to 7 players for no cost (no change). 2. Any player after 7 costs $5/player. Proposed change (first 7 keepers remain free): 1. Next 3 keepers (8-10) remain at $5/player. 2. Any players after the 10th keeper will cost $10/player. On 3-2 the vote was 1- Yes, 4-No. 5 votes of a possible 14. Great voting by the league. By league rule, the league has 2 weeks to accept or reject the rule and 7 votes are needed. The rule failed both. Bad times for the world. A virus has infected the world and many places are on lock down to avoid travel and spread of the disease. Sports have been cancelled and the NFL has cancelled the Pro days, player visits and the draft which was to be held in Las Vegas. The draft will still be held but, how will be determined later. Late breaking news ! The Stooges will now be called Mutts. In his 9th season this is the 9th team name change. A new owner will be in the league this year. Ryan L, Fixer Upper, will be taking over for I'm Not Howie. Once again Ed H. has changed his team name. Now will be, Munsons. This is the 10th team name in 9 years he has been in the league. With his transactions he makes, why would the team name be different. Washington will retire the team name and logo as of 7-13-20 per team owner Daniel Snyder. A new name and logo will be announced soon. The team nickname and logo was changed when the team moved from Boston to Washington in 1933. For now they will be called, Washington Football Team until a permanent team name can be selected. Announcing, the third team name change for 2020 and the season hasn't started yet. Mutts to Munsons to Waterford Whinnies. Amazing. 2020 Protect list deadline has passed. 176 players were protected with 96 plus 7 players totalling 480.00. The numbers are the highest since 2003 season. Now starts draft prep week and Sunday 8-30 is the season draft for the 32nd time, Keepers ranged from 3 - Strange Brew to 20 - Waterford Whinnies. The rest were 7 to 18 players kept. The 32nd draft is now complete. 64 players were drafted and lasted about an hour and a half. Went by quick. Three extensions were given and 3 were then skipped. Teams picked the three after the draft was complete. Highest grade given by PrimeTime draft, A + - Lynx and lowest to Fixer Upper, a D. We have 2 pickup weeks and then the NFL season will begin on September 10th, Houston @ Kansas City. Kansas City 34  Houston 20. Clyde Edwards-Helaire proved why he was a first round pick and the Chiefs keep rolling. A 2020 rule was passed, before the season began, because of Covid that the season would have to be 7 weeks to be official. Payouts would be prorated as to how many weeks were played if the NFL had to postpone the season, Today, 10-25-20, week 7 begins. Hopefully the season will be 17 weeks, playoffs and the Super Bowl. I was notified, 11-15. that a former team owner and friend of mine passed away. Gary Pleger was the Gridiron Stompers with his son Steve from 1994-2000. Marc L, Neil M and I worked with Gary in Bellwood, IL. I worked with Gary for 21 years. He will be missed by those in the league that knew Gary. The 32nd FFL89 season has ended. Playoffs will begin this Thursday. Amazing that both the NFL and FFL89 have made it to week 13. The division winners were N - Texan, E - Lynx, S - LA Warlords and W - Warthogs. Wildcards were Lucente's Rule and 1st year owner Ryan, Fixer Upper. Toilet Bowl teams were set with Shamrocks and McGibblets getting the bye and 3 thru 6, JP Neil, Young Guns, Waterford Whiinies and Strange Brew. This was one of the hardest seasons with players being infected with the virus, whether positive or false tests. Hopefully the NFL can continue until the end of the Super Bowl, The year end award voting is over. Owner of the year - Warthogs, MVP - Kyler Murray - Lynx and ROY - Justin Herbert - Lucente's Rule. Playoffs are over. The 2020 winners are - League Champions - Warthogs, 2nd - Lynx, 3rd LA Warlords and 4th - Texan. The 7th rookie draft 1st pick goes to Toilet Bowl champions - McGibblets and Shamrocks the 2nd. The Sper Bowl XXXI has been setup for the 2021 Super Bowl. Once again a struggle to get teams to accept the invitation. As of 1-5-21, we have 6 teams in. The playoffs begin 1-9-21 @ 12:00pm. I should be used to it but I just can't. Always waiting to the last minute. Super Bowl Sunday is here. Now we wait nine hours an fifty minutes for the game to start. Going to be tough. Super Bowl is over and the and Warthogs finished first with McGibblets second and Shamrocks, Fixer Upper tied for third. The league on February 21 @11am will hold the first virtual meeting for the end of the year meeting to vote on new rules, FFL89 HOF and about the league payouts for the 2020 season. Zoom meeting went great and thanks to Mike L. for all his help. New rules passed. 2021 rookie draft will now be linear and picks 1 and 2 will remain (TBowl finals) the picks 3 - 12 were decided by Draft Order. In 2022 the draft will be linear and draft order will be decided by the precious years finish, Toilet Bowl, rounds 1 - 6 and Championship teams 7 - 12. The charge for 1 rookie move rule will not change. The 120.00 banquet fee (10.00 per team) will now be used for the weekly high weeks in the Super Bowl (30.00 each weeks 18-21). Also for the SBowl, rosters are now due at the players game time and only players who have played or are playing will be shown. If the NFL goes to a 18 week schedule, the extra week will be scheduled (FFL89) by previous years finish and by rotating divisions. (ie 2021 - North vs South, East vs West). Next up is starting March 1st, 2021 the new season will begin where drops and trades will be allowed. Pickups are not allowed. 2021 will be are 33rd season.

2021
March 1st the 33rd FFL89 season has begun. Now the league is waiting for the NFL season start and free agency to begin on the 17th. Some cuts were made to rosters and by the middle to end of March trades were finally starting. Cuts and trades all involved the Texan's. They cut three players early and also made 2 trades, 1 with McGibblets and 1 with the Shamrocks, Both involved trades for rookie picks and the second future rookie draft pick. 2022 second round pick. Shamrocks traded back to the 6th overall pick and Texan's moved up to number two pick. Now the Texan's only have a 1st and 4th round rookie pick. The first future pick was in 2017 Lynx and I'm Not Howie. Lynx traded Du Johnson, G Bernard and 2018 2nd round for C McCaffrey. It's August 2nd and the rookie draft was held yesterday, online, Sunday. It went as smooth as possible. We had nine draft slots traded this year. The most ever. We had as many as 6 rookie picks and 1 team with only two. Now we prepare for the roster cuts to 20 by the end of the week. The mini camp for 1 week and the protect list is due the following week. The season draft will be held online, August 29th @ 11:00 am. The season draft has come and gone. The draft was held online and ran as smooth as possible. Ethan, Strange Brew, got his first time handling of the draft. He did a good job. Drafted all 20 rounds by himself. Next up are the two pickup nights before the NFL season starts on September 9th, Dallas @ Tampa Bay. August 31 is the day that approximately 865 players will be told they did not make the team. Then waiver claims will start and more players will be told they have been cut, A few running backs will miss the season that hasn't even started yet, JK Dobbins and Cam Akers. This is the slow time, after the draft and the start of the season. Season has begun. Twentythree weeks to go. Let's enjoy. This went by super fast. The regular season is over. Division winners were N - Young Guns, S - Shamrocks, E - Lynx and W - Warthogs. Wild cards - LA Warlords and McGibblets. Bye week teams for both tournaments, Championship - Shamrocks and Lynx. Toilet Bowl - Texan and Lucente's Rule. Young Guns and Texans, Warthogs and McGibblets tied for the divisions and decided by the tie breakers. Championship and Toilet Bowl's begin tonight, Thursday, 12-16.   Week 16 has started. Teams eliminated were: Championship - LA Warlords and McGibblets and in the Toilet Bowl: Strange Brew and Fixer Upper. The regular season and playoffs has now been completed. Shamrocks beat the Warthogs and Young Guns lost to the Lynx in the finals. The Toilet Bowl was won by Lucentes Rule for the first time by beating Waterford Whinnies in the finals. Next up will be the weekly high (Lucente's Rule) and then the Super Bowl begins January 15th. Super Bowl XXXII is now over and of the top 11 points scored, 5 teams were added to the top 11. Shamrocks won their 5th Super Bowl and Fixer Upper finished in the top 3 for the second time and Lynx finished third.  Waterford Whinnies will not be returning next season. we are now looking for a new owner. We are planning our year end meeting, online. Then after we will be looking for the start of our 34th season . Great year, better 34 year run.
